What would you like to achieve?
peak performance
Peak performance is about optimising our performance when under pressure, and a lot is at stake. A surgeon, for example, needs to be in top shape to perform a challenging operation. We want to be our best in an exam situation, and we need to be at the top of our game to present our research at an important conference. Peak performance also includes building mental toughness, concentration, focus and resilience in the face of set-backs.
Stress Management
Stress is a state of physiological & psychological arousal. The emotions, thoughts & behaviours that we attach matter, and for how long we are subject to high levels of arousal. Today's fast-paced world provides many factors or stressors that can cause stress. While not all types of stress are necessarily a bad thing, being under the pump for too long can take it's toll. So, it is necessary to recognise periods of stress and adequately deal with it, before we reach our tipping point.
Wellbeing
Ties between mindfulness meditation, relaxation, sleep, exercise, diet, lifestyle, and overall physical & mental wellbeing have been demonstrated. We are now beginning to better understand how the mind can influence the body and vice versa, and new research is constantly emerging. In practical terms, oftentimes it is a matter of motivating ourselves to do what - deep down - we know is good for us, and consistently make the time to do it.
Work-Life Balance
One of the most difficult things we face is balancing our time and energy between work commitments and our private life. Spending years of intense studying, followed by working long hours in hospitals and corporations can impinge on our private lives. It is possible to walk this tightrope without falling off, by becoming better aware of our priorities and core values. This will help us work with the resources we have and use them wisely.
Leadership coaching
Leadership, especially within complex environments, is the ability of individuals to take initiative, apply their talents and creativity towards generating options, and shaping a mutually directed outcome. As such, anyone within an organisation or a team has the capacity to develop leadership. While management concerns itself with the practical and more short-term aspects, leadership is visionary, purpose driven, and emergent. Good leadership enables sustained growth.
Career Design
Our careers are a large part of our lives. Working out how you want to be spending your working hours, and how to get there, is really important. What works for one person may not be the best solution for another. Taking agency and proactively shaping our career path is essential. Otherwise, at worst our job may be miserably going nowhere, and at best we might find ourselves living someone else's dream career. Most importantly, it is about working smarter, not harder!
Change Management
Change is about trying or doing something new, be it voluntary or imposed upon us. Change can be quite terrifying, even if we seek it. Coaching is all about change, and supporting people on their way to a different way of being and doing, reaching new goals and continually adjusting as we go. Change is an ongoing process, and once you have seen how you can proactively move towards new horizons, you can do it on your own. Trust your wings!
communication + Relations
Relationships stand and fall with communication. If we want to improve our relationships we need to improve our communication. This holds true for our relations with family, friends, colleagues and clients. Truly listening, and genuinely trying to understand where the other person is coming from, suspending our own judgement for a moment, and choosing our response carefully, all play a part.
